A team of three undergraduate students from the engineering department won first place at last week's regional research symposium. Their project, which focused on designing a low-cost water filter for rural communities, was selected from more than forty entries. The team's faculty advisor said the students had been developing the project for over a year, testing several prototypes before settling on their final design. As part of the award, the team will receive funding to continue refining the filter and present their work at a national conference in the fall.
